Driftwood features eight of Jerry Rizzi's, instrumental compositions. The compositions are a blending of Classical-chamber, Jazz and blues-rock genres. The CD includes performances by Jerry on Bass Guitar and Cello along with contributions from a solid line up of Jerry's friends, all of whom are noted New York and Dallas based session and performance musicians. The compositions vary from, a duet featuring bass and soprano Saxophone to a live recording with drums, piano, classical guitar, bass guitar and Saxophone.
From the opening piece of the CD, with its haunting Cello, you are transported to a secluded stream where the captured moments of life's stories float by as pieces of driftwood.

At the edge of the stream's
modest, limited shorelines
lays debris and obstructed paths
amongst the wood chips, logs, broken branches,
Shredded bark and Fallen Trees.
Unspoken words tell of stories past and present
As a light breeze gently whispers through the standing trees
In the waters, drift wooden particles both large & small
As if wandering, looking, searching for their family tree,
there meaning, there home.
For some it is a temporary stop a visit a temporary resting place
before moving on, drifting sometimes upstream and other times downstream.
While for others it is their final destination. They have arrived.
